Peace at Dawn

Morning whispers and soft winds blow
Truth held on — one flag let go

The smoke is gone, the earth remember.
The guns fell silent, peace came from surrender.
The world feels fragile, tired and tender,
Hope we never march back to thunder.

We walk with ghosts along our side,
Whispering names the wind won’t hide

Ravens shadow with their black wings,
But now the bells have stopped to sing
How long we watch the river flow
before we learn to let war go?

We raise our young with kinder thunder,
And teach their hearts what war pulls under.
Let mercy lead where anger tries,
So peace can live where blood once cried.

Oh Lord, we hear Your distant call,
Through the bell beyond the fall.
Lift our hearts from blood-stained years,
Please Wash this land of war and tears.

Ravens shadow with their black wings,
But now the bells have stopped to sing
How long we watch the river flow
before we learn to let war go?

And if the call should ring again,
Remember how the drums brought all the pain.
